Wo bachpan

Wo udte parinday ko dekh mujhe apna bachpan yaad aa gaye,
kabhi hum bhi aise udte the, aaj sochte he jaise baadal chaa gaya hai.

Kya to din the wo, kya to zindagi hua karti thi,
wo ghar ki teesri seedi se chalaang maarne me bhi khushi mila karti thi.

Wo paani ki bottle gale me daalkar school jaya karte the,
aur subah subah ghar waale bus stop tak chodne aya karte the.

duniya ko dekh har din kya kya sapne sajaya karte the,
bas unke baare me soch he khushi se jhoom jaya karte the.

Wo school ki choti choti si ladai me kya kya bol jaate the,
aaj samajh ata hai, kya pagal the hum, kaise gul khilaate the.

Wo ghar aakar garam garam khaana khaane ko milta tha,
Us khaane ka kya bolun, ek alag he maza hua karta tha.

Sham ko doston ke saath khelne ke plan banate the,
Sabse badi tension "ground khali ho" ke baare me sochte reh jaate the.

Parikshaon ke samay to jo haalat khraab hoti thi,
bas wo maa ka bolna ki, beta ho jayega se he santushti mila karti thi.

Kuch aisi he thi wo zindagi, najaane kahan chali gyi.
Abhi kal he to jee rahe the, kahin gayab si ho gayi.

Ab pairon pe khade ho rahe hain, to sab samajh ata hai.
Chote tha, bhole the, wo bachpan ab nazar naa ata hai.

Aisa nhi hai ki sapne dekhne bhool gaye hai ab,
Wo dekhne ka asli nazariya nazar nhi ata hai.

Is tez daudti zindagi ke jhamele me,
najaane kya kya peeche choot jata hai.

Bas kuch pal hote hai jab achank sab yaad ata hai,
Usi me thoda muskura lete hai, usi lamhe ko yaad kar aaj ek aur din nikal jata hai.

The four years

There was a time, there was this day,
Few years back, my college’s first day
A little scared ,as I was out of home for the first time,
And I had to overcome it for a better life,
A new city, a new environment,
Far away from home.

I met a lot of people during this journey,
Some ready to drag me into an abyss,
But some ready to pull me up,
And those are the ones,
forever attached to my life.

This journey of four long years,
With everyday being a new experience,
Taught me what real friends are for,
Making me more independent day by day,
Yes, the period, so long, yet so small.

From the planned parties to the spontaneous hangouts,
The blissful moments and the bitter days,
The examination fever, the overnight studies,
The canteen chit-chats and the not-so-interesting lectures
Everything adds up to make this journey special,
Some indelible memories.

These amazing days,
Forever in my heart and mind,
All I have are some photographs to relive them.

Not even a year since we parted,
Yet I look for time in my calendar,
To catch-up with someone, sometime, someplace,
And together go back to those days,
Laugh at the pictures, cry a bit,
And in the end say,
“I wish I could go back”

Coz this journey, I am always gonna remember

And back from the place where I started the best journey of my life, and this time, indeed it was special. It was the CONVOCATION, the day when I officially became an engineer, one of my many dreams and one of the most special ones. Getting your first degree is always special, not only because you have completed those studies but you have lived through probably the best time of your life. As said, it is the journey that matters more, not only the end. I was looking forward to the convocation weekend from the moment I last stepped out of my college.

Sure, I was hesitant at first when I entered this college four years back as I was leaving my home for the first time, and it was a big deal for me, leaving family, relatives, school life behind. But as days pass by, we realize that it is totally worth it. Being on your own, in a place you don’t know, in an environment you haven’t seen, discovering yourself is a challenge in itself. We had used our parent’s identities before that, this was the time when we had to create ours. The first day, all we saw were the new faces, some lucky ones had known some before, but slowly we all got others, spent some time with them and realized what we all are for each other.

This journey of four years is something all of us are going to remember. Everyone has had their sweet and bitter moments, but that’s how life is, not everything is the way you want. OK, I started somewhere and went four years back, we all have lived through this time and we all have our awesome memories captured in our minds and hearts.

Coming back to the CONVOCATION, yes, the best part was meeting everybody again after six long months. I have felt nostalgic during that period. This was the time when we all were together, and this was also the time when probably we all were together for the last time (I hope it is not).
We hardly slept coz we wanted to make most of these two-three days. From awesome meals to night parties to endless photo sessions and the never-ending senseless conversation, I had the time of my life. I know I am going to miss this, coz even at this moment; I am still looking at the convocation photographs.
I still wonder what would have happened if I had been in some other college. I surely would have not known the people I love today, and I wouldn’t have even realized it. I am looking forward to the day when we all can catch up again(maybe the Alumni meets or in our marriages :P), relive some of the memories we have shared, laugh together or even cry a bit remembering those moments.
